All about me and the letter Bb

It's hard to believe, but we have finished the first 7 days of school already.  We are busy learning in room 6, and having fun while we do it.  I have to say I really love my class this year.  There are a lot of them, but they are all eager to learn.  That makes my job so much easier.  Take a look at some of the great work my K-Crew kids did this past week.

We really enjoyed making ourselves for the hallway.  I think they did an awesome job.  They also traced their names with dot paint.  Some got very creative and dotted around their name also.  They are precious hanging in the hall.

I made myself for an example.  Had lots of fun trying to get my curly hair on there.  The kids got such a kick out of seeing my mini me.  :-)
Of course we can't have the kids and I hanging in the hall with out Mrs. Rogers.  We couldn't make it in room 6 with out her.

This week we have been learning about the letter Bb.  What better way than to make some buzzing bumble bees.

This was the easiest bee I have ever made.  I cut out the body as one piece, and the wings are an oval. Glue the body on top of the wings, add some fingerprints for stripes, wiggle eyes and a mouth....they are finished.  So easy and cute.

I hope you all have an awesome start to your year!

A Pinterest Kind of Start To a Great New Year

It's hard to believe that we have come to the end of preplanning and the first two days of school.  I have to say I love, love, love my new class of K-Crew Kids.  All 24 of them.  They have all walked in like little pros with very few tears shed for the beginning of the year.  I'd say that's pretty good.  When setting up my classroom this year, I decided to put my pinterest finds to use.  I can't wait for you to see all the adorable things in room 6 this year.  Love it.

A look into room 6 from the door

Love my room this year.  Full of cuteness.

My new listening center.  Look at the adorable chairs I found at Walmart.

We gave the mailboxes a makeover this year.  Once the kids learn the color in their mailbox, we can pack up by color.  This also cuts down on having so many at the mailboxes at one time.

I gave my behavior chart a facelift this year.  The first change was to put it on a magnetic board.  I then took buttons and glued magnets to the back.  The top of the button has each students number on it.  I then added up and down arrows so that they will understand the direction they are asked to move. I added a  happy and sad face so they will understand what the words mean.  It turned out really cute.

Love my organized shelf.  I attached  boarder to the edges to dress up the shelf.  I then put all of my organized supplies on it.  I am loving it and the organization.

Here are my crayon containers.  They were made from cupcake pans and sippy cups from the Dollar Tree. I put velcro on the bottom of the cups, so that they stay in place.  The crayons and other items are sorted into their own individual cup.  Loving them.

This was one of the best inventions that I discovered toward the end of the last school year.  Place a sponge inside a container of your choice.  Pour glue over the sponge.  The glue will soak into the sponge. The kids touch the item they are gluing on the sponge.  It saves glue and mess.  When not in use snap the lid on.

So proud of my clip boards / marker boards.  I covered the front and the edges of the clip board in duct tape.  I then hot glued these marker boards that I found in Walmart on the back.  So fantastic!!!  Takes up less space and so much easier to keep up with.

Here is the dry erase boards from Walmart.  I'm sure you can search for them if they are not in your local store.

Cute bubbles for open house.

Markers with pom pom for erasers glued on the end.

I gave these flower pots a face lift.  Cute.

Love my new flower arrangement.  So easy to make.  Take a container of your choice.  Hot glue a Styrofoam ball inside the container.   Then simply stick the dum dums in the styrofoam.  I then decorated the outside.

Love my wreath hanging outside my room.  My wonderful K-Crew teacher Kaleigh made it for me.  So cute.

Here are my new table markers. They are hanging above each table.  Loving it.

Here is my chalkboard frame that I made to mark special days this year at school.  I took each child's picture holding the frame.  All I will have to do is take the titles off and add another.

I hope you enjoyed taking a little glance into room 6.  I have so much more I would like to add, but we'll save them to another time.  I can't wait to watch my group of new k-crew kids grow and learn.  It's going to be a great year in room 6.
