Room 6 is starting to come together and starting to feel like home..

Thanks to our superintendent and some very good friends pulling for all of us that moved classrooms this summer, I was able to have air for a couple of days to work in my classroom.  After many, many hours it's coming together, and I finally feel like  I can sit back a few weeks and get a little summer break so I will ready for the new K-Crew that will be coming to Smith Elementary in August.  I still have things that need to be put together and put up, but I am so proud of how it is looking.  Take a little look into room 6 where I'll be coming from next school year.  Now...it will change a good bit as I work and put more things up at the end of the summer, but I'm happy with it so far.

A look from the door.

The Reading Spot with my new crate bench made with with crates, zip ties, foam ,a table cloth, and baskets.  It turned out so cute.

Back of the room far from finished, but I've got fabric on the boards so  that always makes me feel better.

A look from the reading spot into my corner.  Don't look closely there is still mess back there , but that's ok for now. Look at my cute little rugs I bought from Ross. I love them.

These are my new hook numbers.  I'm proud of them.  I did not take a picture of them up in the hall, so I put one from I first finished them.  Paint, printers, and Modge Podge goes a long way to cuteness.

  1. Could you tell me how you made your crate bench?? I get the idea, what I guess I need to know is if you put plywood on top or just foam? Also, how did it hold up?
    Thanks

  2. Katina the crates are on their side and tied with zip ties. The top is just foam and I used a table cloth. The person I got the idea from on pinterest bought a bench pillow but I did not want to spend so much on it at this time. I did not use any wood. You could use something thin to put the foam on and then wrap your fabric. I thought about using some of the old individual marker boards I have, but then changed my mind. I just made it this summer so I'm not sure how well it will hold up yet. Hopefully it will do well since I teach kindergarten and they are small. The good thing about it, is that I used milk crates instead of ones that I bought. So I am not out of any money. :-) If they do well on it I may make another one using colorful crates. :-)

  3. Lisa, I just found your blog and I'm your latest follower! You are so lucky that you can go in during the summer and fix your room. Wow, I wish I could too! I have some really nice freebies on my blog. If you have a second, come over for a visit.

  4. Sharon I am so glad I was able to get in there a couple of days with air. I still have so much to do with it being a different classroom, but I took a big bite out of it those couple of days. :-) The exciting thing about moving to a different room after stressing out.....is that you can clean out some, arrange a little different, and kind of get a new start. I can't wait to see what it looks like when I finish in a few more weeks when it's time to go back. Thanks so much for stopping by. I love to blog.
