The Polar Express and Christmas Learning Fun

Have students cut the squares apart, and then glue them on a sentence strip.  Another idea would be to cut the squares apart, glue them down on a piece of paper, and have the students illustrate the sentence.

Have students cut the pieces of the train out and glue them on a sentence strip in order.

These cards can be used in so many ways.....to read numbers words, count sets...... Place the cards in order using the numbers words one-ten.

Writing Our Letters With Some Christmas Cheer

Christmas Letters All Around

Gingerbread Letters. Write the lower case letters.

Gingerbread Letters.  Write the upper case letters.

WE LOVE GINGERBREAD STORIES!

One of my favorite things to do in the month of December is reads lots of gingerbread stories.  The kids love them, and it's so much fun to see how the stories are the same and different.  They are great stories to use to talk the story elements of the story...... characters, setting, problem/solution, events, beginning, middle and end.  Here is the thinking map we have been completing together about each story we read.

November

November was full of learning and fun.  It's so hard to believe that we are are so close to being half way through this year.  This year has gone by so fast.  We have now learned all of our letters and sounds.  Many of us are reading or beginning to read. Most of our class knows all of their numbers to 30 and several can identify their numbers all the way to 100!!  It's amazing what happens with their little minds between August and December.
Hold on tight....there is so much going on over the next couple of weeks and a great deal of learning to be done. We love this time our year!

October was fun, but.....Novemeber will be full of "Fall"tastic learning!

We have had a so much fun and learning over the last few weeks.  We are almost finished with all of our letters and sounds, and learning so much new information just like rockstars do.
We are learning about how we can retell stories that are read to us.  We can identify the characters, setting, problem/solution and events that happen in a story.
Our students really loved reading about Clifford and the Pumpkin Patch.  They did a great job identifying the characters, setting and problem/solution.
Fall Festival was great!  Thanks PTO
Fun games were played by all.
We carved a pumpkin in our class.  For many of our students this was the first time.  It was lots of fun.
Our rockstars were not so sure about putting their hands in the pumpkin and pulling out the seeds.
It may be slimy but I'll smile anyway.
Happy Fall to You!

Only two more weeks of school before Thanksgiving Break.  Hold on tight there is a lot to do.
